Judson Albert "Judd" Blevins of Port Deposit died June 8, 2014 at Union Hospital, Elkton. He was 95. He was born August 30, 1918 in Grassy Creek, N.C., son of the late Rush Fields Blevins and Dorsey Ann Jones Blevins. Named after his grandfather, Judson B. Jones, his family made the move from North Carolina on March 4, 1929, packing all their worldly goods and children on the back of a truck to Harford County, settling in the Glenville area. As a young man, he worked in farming and easily adapted to the hard work, a trait that stayed with him throughout his life. He was always a hard charger with energy to spare. Mr. Blevins learned the electrical trade and worked as an electrician 39 years for Charlestown Electric before retiring. He loved his family, any baseball game, but especially the Orioles, enjoyed outdoor
activities, caring for his vegetable garden, tending to his flowers, and wintering in Florida in the early years of retirement. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Johnson and husband, Scotty, of Elkton and Sharon Kerns and husband, Michael, Perryville; grandchildren Kimberly Goll (John), Christopher Johnson (Janice), Timothy Patchell (Celeste), Jill Lee (Thomas), David Buegel (Kari); 11 great grandchildren; a great-great grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his one true love and wife of 69 years, Bertha Elizabeth, Nickle Blevins, daughter Darla Buegel, brothers Jewel Blevins, Ray Blevins, and sisters Jeston Blevins, Hursey Deboard, Lessie Hash, Liza Arnold, Mary Peake, Lois Holloway, Nora Hamby and Genevieve Campbell. Funeral services will be held on June 14, 2014 at Crouch Funeral Home in North East, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. with services immediately following. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.
