Jerry Gale Delp of Rising Sun died Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del. He was 68. Born on May 9, 1945 in Piney Creek, N.C., he was the son of the late Luther and Blanche Delp. Mr. Delp worked and retired from Chrysler in Newark, Del. after 44 years. He was devoted to his family, friends, and his church, Freemont United Methodist. He was a Baltimore Ravens and Orioles fan, who also enjoyed taking trips to Florida.
He is survived by his sons, Dave Delp and wife Kelly of Elkton, and Brian Delp and his wife Colleen of Smyrna, Del.; brothers Howard Delp and wife Ruth of Rising Sun, Bobby Delp and wife Charlotte of Churchill, Randy Delp and wife Pilamra of Fla., Mike Delp and wife Susan of Fla., and Daniel Delp of Va. ; sisters Alma Foster and husband Bill of Rising Sun, Wanda Fay Fields and husband Dean of N.C., Emma Health and husband Roger of Va., Sylvia Fields and husband David of Va., and Debra Hale and husband Walter of Fla.; sister-in-law Barbara Delp of Maryland; and five grandchildren, Felicia, Megan, Chase, Brianna and Brandon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Edwin Delp. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday December 8, 2013 at Freemont United Methodist Church, 321 Freemont Rd., Nottingham, PA 19362.
