Nancy Cochran Henderson, age 81, of Newark, DE, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017. Born in Cecil County, MD, on November 16, 1936, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Thelma Kauffman Cochran. Mrs. Henderson retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground as a payroll supervisor. She loved volunteering at Bayside Community Network, and enjoyed dancing, bowling, reading, and crossword puzzles. Survivors include her children, Wade A. Henderson, Newark, DE, Ivy R. Henderson (Wayne), Elkton, MD, Tammy M. Stanley (Jim), North East, MD, and Brenda L. Miller (Sonny), Elkton, MD; grandchildren, Cody Stanley, Chesapeake City, MD, and Heather Stanley, Elkton, MD; and siblings, Lillian Phipps (Paul), Elkton, MD, Kathryn Roland, Quarryville, PA; and James Cochran (Cathy), Florida. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Henderson was preceded in death by her first husband, Carver Henderson; second husband, William L. Ewing, Sr.; son, Joel B. Henderson; granddaughter, Brittany Peart; siblings, Rex Cochran and Betty McCann; and companion, Bus Shoemaker.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Private interment will be in Cherry Hill Methodist Cemetery, Cherry Hill, MD.
