James Samuel Johnson, of Port Deposit, died Sunday, March 2, 2014, in the V.A. Maryland Health Care System of Perry Point. He was 81. Mr. Johnson was born on February 1, 1933 in Marion, North Carolina, son of the late Harry E. and Lola Coe Johnson. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Port Deposit and a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Korean Conflict. In 1967 he established Jim Johnson's Fine Cars of Perryville, and the business is still in operation to this day.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, June Doss Johnson, of Port Deposit; sons, Randy Johnson and wife, Ellen, of Port Deposit, Jeff Johnson and wife, Regina, of North East, Andy Johnson and wife, Jeannie and Mark Johnson, both of Port Deposit; five grandchildren, James Webb, Linsey Webb Winkey, Tiffany Taylor, Cody Johnson, Randi Allen, Taylor Johnson, and Drew Johnson; two great grandchildren, Levi Allen and Dakota Taylor; brothers, Robert Johnson and Scotty Johnson and a sister, Linda Johnson Krummel. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry Johnson, Jr., and Ned Johnson and a sister, Hazel Johnson Norman. Friends can call at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church of Port Deposit on Saturday, March 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Services will be held immediately following at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dr. Harold Phillips officiating.
