Gwendolyn Joyce Thompson died at home Saturday, December 5, 2015. She was 45. She was born in Havre de Grace on February 26, 1970, daughter of Albert and Brenda Schuman of Rising Sun and David L. Thompson of Perryville. She grew up in Rising Sun and graduated from Rising Sun High School. She was a nurse for 27 years and was employed at the Dawn Career Institute, Wilmington, Del. She was loved by many family, friends, and coworkers. Ms. Thompson especially enjoyed gardening, preserving her harvest, crafts, cooking, and spending time at their beach home. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Rising Sun and also the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lewes, Del. She was the beloved life partner of William Miller and they lived in Rising Sun.
She is survived by her daughter Brianna Sienkiewicz of Colora; her sister and spouse Lisa and Philip Jennings of Havre de Grace; her sister Mary Ann Thompson of Cecil County; a brother and spouse Larry and Connie Schuman of Rising Sun, a brother and spouse David and Mandy Schuman of Rising Sun, and many special aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be accepted by the family on Thursday, December 10 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church , and Friday, December 11 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 1072 Ebenezer Church Road, Rising Sun. Funeral services, officiated by Reverend James Burcham ,will immediately follow the visitation on Friday, December 11. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made payable to “Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation – Kaufman Cancer Center” or “Ebenezer United Methodist Church” and sent in care of Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East.
