Goldie Burl McDowell of Conowingo died at home Friday, September 19, 2014. She was 84. Born December 10, 1929 in North Carolina she was the daughter of the late Jesse H. Oliver and Sally Miller. Mrs. McDowell was a member of Tome Memorial United Methodist Church of Port Deposit, and more recently began attending Pleasant View Baptist Church of Port Deposit. She was employed by the former Bainbridge Naval Training Center as a seamstress. She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Hudson and Joan Geisler, both of Rising Sun; four grandchildren, Mark Hudson, Kristen Hudson-Nichols, Kelly Geisler Bare, and Christopher Geisler; five great grandchildren, Drake Bare, Saylor Bare, Cruz Bare, Brandon Hudson, and Ethan Hudson; brother, Robert Miller of Rising Sun; and sister, Virginia Kienzel of Western Springs, Ill..
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry O. McDowell; brothers, William Blevins, David Blevins, and Vaughn Oliver; and sister, Elizabeth Hayden. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, 2014, 11 a.m., at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2014, 10-11 a.m., at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Pastor Michael A. Caldwell of Tome Memorial United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in West Nottingham Cemetery, Colora.
