Frederick Ray Gilbert of Odenton, formerly of Perryville, died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Mandrin Hospice of Harwood. He was 93. Born March 12, 1920 in Craftsbury, Vermont, he was the son of the late Victor and Bessie Gilbert. Mr. Gilbert was retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground, where he was employed as a civilian gunner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. He is a former member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church of Perryville. He was a member of the Aberdeen Proving Ground Bow Club and the Susquehanna American Legion Post No. 135 of Perryville. In addition, he very much enjoying hunting and fishing.
Mr. Gilbert is survived by his son, Freddie Gilbert of Odenton; daughter, Maria Reist of Lebanon, Pa.; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gilbert was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Campbell Gilbert; grandson, Brian Gilley; brother, Richard Gilbert; and sister, Viva Gilbert. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, March 7, 2014, 1 p.m., at the Lee A. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, P.A., Perryville. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, March 7, 2014, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Deacon Luke Yackley of Good Shepherd Parish, Perryville, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mark’s Cemetery, Perryville. Comments are closed.
