Elizabeth T. Maresca of Elkton died Sunday, February 9, 2014 in Owings. She was 80. Born July 1, 1933 in Union City, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Francessco and Maddalena (Paturzo) Pollio. She worked 37 years to working for the Cecil County Public School System as an elementary teacher. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Zeta Chapter, which is an honorary, international society for women educators. She enjoyed spending her time educating her students and helping to enrich the lives of children and young adults in her community. Her most cherished moments were those spent with her family, especially her eight grandchildren. Her legacy will be forever remembered not only though her children but also though the Elkton Boys and Girls Club’s “Elizabeth Maresca House”, which was dedicated in her honor in 2013.
She is survived by her sons, Mario F. Maresca and his wife, Sandy of Owings, Frank A. Maresca and his wife, Linda of Marietta, Ga., and Michael Maresca, MD and his wife, Barbara of Hannawa Falls, N.Y.; daughter, Felicia M. Nesbit, DDS and her husband, Frank of Port Tobacco; and eight grandchildren, Catherine, Gabrielle, Lauren, Leah, Margaret, Michael, Maddalena, and Elizabeth. Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glauco Maresca in 1963 and her companion, Rodgers Brown, in 2007. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2014 and from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 from R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 E. Main St., Elkton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Church, 455 Bow St, Elkton, MD 21921. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
