Earl Herbert Loomis of Elkton died Wednesday, February 25, 2015. He was 79. He was born on November 22, 1935 in Chester County, Pa. to the late Earl Russell Loomis and Gladys McCorkle. Mr. Loomis was a graduate of Downingtown High School in Downingtown, Pa. then attended Goldey–Beacom College in Del. graduating with an associate’s degree in Accounting and Business. He worked at First Federal Savings Fund in Wilmington Del., where he served as Vice-President for 19 years. In 1982, he started Loomis Appraisal Company where he worked as a Real Estate Appraiser and he also taught appraising through Loomis Appraisal School. He was a member of The Newark Rotary Club, Newark Country Club and the Newark United Methodist Church in which he was very active.
Mr. Loomis enjoyed golfing, camping with his family, going to various beaches for relaxation and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by their daughters, Keely Wikstrom and her husband, Kevin of Newark, Del., and Shelley Veasey of Baltimore; four grandchildren and several great grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, at the R. T. Foard and Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711. A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 6, at the Newark United Methodist Church, 69 E. Main Street, Newark, DE, 19711 where family and friends may visit starting at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Cherry Hill Methodist Cemetery in Elkton.
