Dorothy M. Parrett, 70 of North East, MD, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at home with her family by her side. A lifelong resident of North East, she was born on January 7, 1947, the daughter of the late George and Florence Viola (Simpers) Rhoades. Dorothy retired from Acme Markets, working as a baker. She had previously worked for Keystone Fireworks. She was a member of VFW Post 6027 Auxiliary and handled janitorial services for both the VFW Post and North East Volunteer Fire Dept. Survivors include her daughter: Beth Piatelli (Steve); a grandson: Charles Vincent “Vinnie” Piatelli all of North East, MD; four brothers: Walter Rhoades (Betty) of North East, MD, John Rhoades (Brenda) of TN, Dean Rhoades (Sally) of Chesapeake City, MD and Edgar Rhoades (Cookie) of Elkton, MD; a sister: Patricia Tesch of North East, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was also preceded in death by her husband: Charles “Snapper” Parrett; and a brother: R. Lester Rhoades. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 11:00 am at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, where visitation will be held on Monday evening, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Interment will follow services in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD. Following interment, there will be a gathering at VFW Post 6027, 815 Turkey Point Road, North East, MD.
