Donald “Blokie” Preston Conley, 69, of Conowingo, MD, passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2018 at his home. Born February 20, 1948 in Havre de Grace, MD, he was the son of the late Dorothy Harris. Blokie was the devoted husband of Lori Conley; loving father of Jaimi Conley-Mahan (Kevin), Paula Conley (Stacy), and Amanda Johnston (Brendon); adored grandfather and great-grandfather of Taylor Mahan-Gallagher (Jack), Christian Conley, Peyten Conley, Dylan Johnston, Bryce Johnston, Colton Johnston, Emerson Mahan and Harlow Gallagher; cherished brother of Cathy Siler, Lewis Harris (Melanie), and Joy Miller (LeRoy); dear son-in-law of Mary Bensinger. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and hunting partner, Bruce Bensinger. Blokie graduated from Havre de Grace High School, class of 1966, and began his employment at J.M. Huber shortly thereafter. He worked there for nearly 38 years, procuring several patents through his research & development while cultivating lasting friendships with his vivacious personality. He loved music, often preferring to converse with songs instead of words. The Beatles were his favorite band and his artwork depicted this, as one of his other passions was painting. He was an avid hunter, the master of home improvement and all-around Mr. Fix-it. He would always lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was the life of the party and had an infectious smile that would light up the room. He enjoyed watching sports and attending Maryland basketball games with his family. Most of all, he was dedicated to his loved ones. From giving advice to his children to being the best playmate to his grandchildren, he was never too busy to be present. He will be greatly missed in every aspect of life.
