Dolores “Dee” Johnson, age 74, of Elkton, MD, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017. She was the wife of the late Stephen J. Johnson. Born in Elkton on January 9, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Lemon Clyde and Margaret Adkins. Mrs. Johnson’s 20 years of federal service started as a data transcriber at Pami Conus—USNTC, Bainbridge, MD. She retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground’s Ballistic Research Lab. She maintained and valued the friendships made during her career. She was a member of National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). Mrs. Johnson loved spending time with her family. Some of her fondest memories were of gatherings with family and friends. She enjoyed Maryland crabs, playing bingo, trips to Atlantic City, sightseeing and in healthier years, traveling. She was very much loved and will be greatly missed. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff of Amedisys Home Health for their assistance and care. Survivors include her daughters, Sandra McDonald and husband, Peter Lutz, Elkton, MD, Linda Sten and fianc, Michael Campbell, North East, MD, and Laurie Farmer, Elkton, MD; siblings, Jimmy Adkins and wife, Pat, Elkton, MD, and Beverly Probst, Avondale, PA; grandchildren, Matthew Farmer, Sean and Brian McDonald, and Jonathan, Sarah and Angel Sten; and 4 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her sons, Artie and Bruce Bowers; and siblings, Clyde, Bobby, Vernon, Billy and Doris Adkins, Nadine Richards, Esther McNiss, Ada Short and Rose Gibson. Family and friends are welcome to attend the funeral service to be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD, where visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in Rose Bank Cemetery, Calvert, MD.
