Bill Gunther of Sebastian, Florida, died at home on February 21, 2015. He was 71. Mr. Gunther grew up in North Wilmington, Del., in the Holly Oak area. After graduation at Mt. Pleasant High School, he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Ohio. Upon discharge from the Air Force, he worked for his father at Gunther Business Forms and then moved to Chesapeake City, bought a small farm, and started a real estate company known as Gunther Real Estate in Cecilton. Mr. Gunther had several homes along the Sassafras River and enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay. He had a penchant for warm climates and would vacation in St. Croix, eventually becoming a resident where he continued his real estate business, was the owner of a small swimming pool company, and refurbished pools throughout the Virgin Islands.
He greatly enjoyed boating, fishing, and snorkeling throughout his life. After several years of horrific hurricanes, he moved his residence to Marathon on the Keys in Florida and once again had a store. The pesky hurricanes forced him to move again, this time to Sebastian, where he continued to sell decorative items to restaurants and eventually retired. He is survived by his nieces Shelly Swed and her husband David of Georgetown, Del., and Nikki Trimble and her husband Rich of Singer Island, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Thelma (Kaehn) Gunther, and his sister, Barbara Anne (Fanning) Gunther. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015 in the chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Hwy., New Castle, DE 19720. Friends and family may visit one hour prior beginning at 10. Burial will follow at the cemetery. Reception immediately following services will be held at VFW Post 8175, 208 W. High Street, Elkton. Memorial contributions may be made to "The Humane Society" and sent in care of R.T. Foard Funeral Home, PA, 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD 21921. Comments are closed.
