Betty Jane “Peggy” Lucas of Colora, died Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace. She was 82. Born February 16, 1933 in Marion, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Poston Johnson. Mrs. Lucas was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher at Calvary Baptist Church. She was a great cook and was known for her famous biscuits and gravy. She raised three children and numerous grandchildren, and was an outstanding wife and mother. Mrs. Lucas is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jack Lucas; daughter, Phyllis Farmer and her husband, Alan; two sons, Kenny Lucas and his wife, Debbie and Michael Ray Lucas and his wife, Stephanie; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and six sisters. A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 11, at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Baptist Cemetery.
