Baynerd N. Delp died Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Union Hospital, Elkton. He was 94. Mr. Delp was born on December 16, 1919 in Pocahontas, Va., son of the late Howard and Hattie Delp. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Delp retired from Maryland Port Authority as a plumber; was a master plumber for the State of Maryland; and worked in southern West Virginia coal mines for 20 years. After the coal mines, he also worked as a rodman for the West Virginia Highways. He is survived by a son, James W. Delp and his wife Yourtha of Felton, Pa.; a daughter, Julia Gail Massie and husband, Rev. Ralph Massie, Pastor of North East Church of God; and five grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
He was the husband of the late Irene R. Delp for 74 years. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James E. Delp and Eugene Delp. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 9, 2014 at noon at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. until service time. Burial with full military honors will follow services in North East Methodist Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to North East Church of God, in care of the funeral home.
