John T. Simmons of Rising Sun died Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, Baltimore. He was 64.
Born in Baltimore, on January 13, 1954, he was the son of the late William James and Alice Ruth (Nevel) Simmons, Sr. Prior to retirement due to illness, Mr. Simmons was a welder for many years. Mrs. Beatrice Lois (McMullen) Owens passed from this earth on October 2, 2018 to join her late husband, Leslie G. Owens, III, with the Lord. Bee, as she preferred to be called, was born on August 16, 1921 the youngest of eight children of Oscar Mitchell and Agnes Ellen (Richardson) McMullen. Bee lived the majority of her life in her hometown of Perryville, MD. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Kay (Owens) Popek and her husband, Dan; two step-grandsons and their wives, and one great-grandson, Justin Popek. Bee spent her life caring for and about others, sewing, taking care of her home, and enjoying the produce from the gardens of her father-in-law, her husband, and then her own. She had been a member of the local African Violet Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mother, aunt, friend, caregiver – she will be missed by all who knew her. Henry “Hank” Judson Lee, 65 of North East, MD, passed away at home Sunday, September 16, 2018 in North East, MD.
Born in Coatesville, PA, on October 21, 1952, he was the son of the late Robert E. Lee. He was a Machinist, previously employed by Andrew Sigars Machine Shop who enjoyed fishing, crabbing, hunting and Chef’s Kitchen Breakfast Club. He was also involved in the Northern Region Crime & Search Team. Constance “Connie” Waddell, 63 of Charlestown, MD, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 29, 2018 in Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton, MD.
She was born in Wilmington, DE, on October 10, 1954. Prior to her retirement, Connie was a nurse. She enjoyed boating, gardening and visiting the ocean. Most of all she loved her family and they were the focus of her life. She was the best wife and mother anyone could ask for. She always put a little extra into everything she did. Colleen “Polly” V. Gray, 88, passed away September 30, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones, in her daughter’s home.
She was born September 15, 1930 to William N. and Helen Demond Letts in North East, MD. Polly was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Floyd Rivers Gray. In 1992, she retired as a Social Services Case Manager and served on the Board of Social Services. An avid traveler, she was a member of the Democrat League, a voluntary judge for the Election Board, and taught Red Cross classes. Once voted Cecil County’s Most Beautiful Person, she also was a member and volunteer at St. Mary Anne’s Episcopal Church, and served as president of the Women’s Lion Club. Douglas B. Evans, 61, of Oxford, passed away on Wednesday September 26, 2018 at home. Born in West Grove, he was the son of Betty Lee Siple Evans of Oxford and the late J. Martin Evans, Jr. Douglas graduated Oxford Area High School class of 1975 and attended West Chester University. He was a self-employed Land Supervisor. Douglas attended Kemblesville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, music, softball and was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren. |
