Brenda Ruth Compton, 74, of Oxford passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at her home. She was the wife of the late Comas R. Compton. Born in Ashe County, NC she was the daughter of the late Edward and Gladys Keys Wyatt. Brenda attended State Line Baptist Church, Rising Sun, MD. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Brenda was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by three sons, David R. Compton of Oxford, Jason S. Compton and his wife, Heather of Peach Bottom, and Jeffrey A. Compton and his wife, Casey of North East, MD; one daughter, Tracy D. Compton of Nottingham; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Wyatt of Atglen; and one sister, Joyce Way of Lansing, NC. Dr. Charles Lawrence "Larry" Brandenburg, Jr. of Rising Sun,died Tuesday, October 16, 2018. He was 91.
He was born on January 29, 1927 in Essex, to the late Charles Lawrence Brandenburg, Sr. and Martha Ellen (Brawner) Brandenburg. Dr. Brandenburg graduated from Kenwood High School in Essex and went on to attend Washington College in Chestertown. He later attended the University of Maryland Dental School. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Wanda Sue Barnett of North East died Friday, October 19, 2018 in Union Hospital, Elkton. She was 56. A lifelong resident of Cecil County, she was born in Elkton on August 26, 1962. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Barnett worked as an LPN at Perry Point VA Medical Center. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Richard Glen Gestewitz, Jr., 53 of Charlestown, MD, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. Born in Havre de Grace, MD, on December 15, 1964, he was the son of Richard G. Gestewitz, Sr. of Charlestown, MD and the late Nancy Jean (Sartin) Gestewitz. Rick served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 20 years of service working in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Division. He was a member of the American Legion, King George, VA and enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing, diving, working out at the gym, and researching/collecting Native American Artifacts. In addition to his father, survivors include his children: Catherine Marie "Cammie" Storms of Philadelphia, PA and Richard G. "Chad" Gestewitz, III of Spanish Fort, AL; his grandmother: Lillian Poore of Chesapeake City, MD; and many good friends. Charles C. “Jake” Sutton, Jr. of North East died Tuesday, October 16, 2018. He was 70.
A lifelong resident of Cecil County, he was born in Elkton, on October 12, 1948, the son of the late Charles C. Sr. and Sarah Jane (Armour) Sutton. Mr. Sutton retired two years ago after 34 years of service with George & Lynch where he operated heavy equipment. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing, shooting pool and shooting sporting clays. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. Rodney Wayne White, "Tater" died on October 10, 2018 at the age of 54. He was born September 8, 1964 in Havre de Grace, MD to Evelyn B. White (Cox) and the late Rodney L. White. Wayne was a horse groomer/trainer and spent most of his profession working around standardbred horses and racing them in various places, including Germany. He was a very knowledgeable person and could discuss any subject at great length. Also, he was funny and had his mother's giggle and his father's deep voice. Wayne loved children and they loved him back! Wayne was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and especially enjoyed watching his beloved team play at Wrigley Field, which he visited many times. He also enjoyed watching and rooting for the New Orleans Saints. Wayne was an avid gardener and was so proud of his vegetables, flowers, and fruit trees. He really had a green thumb. He also loved having pig roasts. Most of all, Wayne loved spending time with his family and friends, especially with his grandchildren. He was loved by all and will truly be missed. Earl S. “Bobby” Elmer, 84 of Rising Sun, MD, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 at home.
A lifelong resident of Cecil County, he was born in North East, on September 5, 1934, the son of the late John B. Sr. and Ethel (Ward) Elmer. He was the husband of the late Jane Louise Elmer who passed September 5, 1998. Prior to his retirement, Bobby worked at the Chesapeake House. He also worked as an assembler at RMR. A member of Elkton Church of the Nazarene, he enjoyed bowling, playing the guitar and country music. Andrew Paul Jugler, Jr., age 29, of Rehoboth, DE lost his battle with drug addiction on October 7, 2018. Andrew was born in Elkton, MD on August 15, 1989. Andrew graduated from Elkton High School in 2009. He was a feisty young man who liked to have his own version of fun. Andrew was self employed as a mobile mechanic, he loved working on cars and fishing. He was a friend to everyone and loved spending time with his family, nieces and nephews. Andrew had a tender heart for the homeless community and was compelled to take care of them. Virginia M. Crawford of Elkton died Saturday, October 6, 2018, in the Laurelwood Nursing Center, Elkton. She was 86.
Born in North East on April 13, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Albert B. and Hanna May (Rice) Jones. Alice J. “Jo” Cochran of Elkton died at her home Friday, October 5, 2018 in Elkton. She was 74.
Born in Otsego, W.Va., on August 23, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Russell Leon and Doris (Stoneman) O'Dell. She was a member of Bay Church in North East. She enjoyed her family, church, and friends, but most of all her grandchildren. |
