Donald Nelson "Benny" Poist of Perryville died October 20, 2017 in Seasons Hospice at Franklin Square Hospital, Baltimore. He was 86. Born August 25, 1931 in Port Deposit, he was the son of the late Donald Wesley Poist and Madeline Snelling Poist. Mr. Poist was a lifelong member of the Blythedale Seventh Day Adventist Church where he had been very active. He graduated from the Jacob Tome Institute in1950 and served in the US Army from 1952–1954 and the US Army Reserves from 1954–1959. He was stationed at the US Army Hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. After serving in the Army, he was employed at the Perry Point VA Hospital until his retirement in 1986. Nancy Sue Boxall of Staffordsville, Va., died Friday, October 20, 2017 in the Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. She was 67.
Born in Silver Spring on March 24, 1950, she was the daughter of the late James Samuel Momyer, Sr. and Lillian Mae (Russell) Momyer. Mrs. Boxall worked as a cashier at CVS, Aspen Hill. Marilyn Boldin, 63 years, of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017 in the University of Maryland Harford Memorial Hospital of Havre de Grace, MD. Born October 12, 1954 in Cherry Point, NC, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Bessie May Murphy.
Mrs. Boldin was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Havre de Grace, MD, and formerly employed as a secretary by Aberdeen Proving Ground of Aberdeen, MD. She was very active for many years with the Boy Scouts of America. Mrs. Boldin is survived by her husband, Johnny Lou Boldin of Port Deposit, MD; sons, Christopher S. Boldin of North East, MD, and John P. Boldin of Yelm, WA; three grandchildren; and sister, Veronica Blain. Reba Jane Cox, 80 of North East, MD, died Tuesday, October 17, 2017 in the Elkton Transitional Care Center, Elkton, MD.
Born in MD, on March 15, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Morris and Viola (McBride) Brinegar. She was the wife of the late Jack David Cox who died October 10, 1994. Barbara Cornelia Barron, 67 of North East, MD passed away October 13, 2017 at Union Hospital in Elkton, MD.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on October 23, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Harriett (Janney) Barron. She worked as a pharmacist at the Perry Point VA in Perry Point, MD. Barbara enjoyed traveling, cookbooks, singing hymns and spending time with those she loved. She is survived by her nephew: Glynn Barron Jenkins; and her cousins: Peter S. Janney and Andrew Janney. Glenn E. Holler Sr., 89, went home to the Lord on October 12, 2017.
Glenn was the son of Gladys Hoagland Holler and Clarence E. Holler (Todd). Glenn is survived by one sister, Carol Suters. Glenn was married to Shirley Reighard Holler. They had five children: Glenn Holler Jr., (Linda); Ann Ray, Barbara Neaton (Ken), Sharon Hames and Ken Holler (Pam). He was predeceased by his parents, sister, Kathryn and daughter Sharon. Glenn has 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Glenn was originally from Bedford, Pennsylvania. Glenn was an excellent salesman in his career. He sold equipment in Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland. Ted Granville Charles, “Teddy”, 35 of Elkton, MD, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017. He was born in Elkton, MD, on January 25, 1982. Teddy loved his job working for Basement Systems, Elkton, MD. He enjoyed fishing. What he enjoyed most was his family. He loved them dearly and relished the time they spent together. Survivors include his daughter: Alexis; his mother: Nancy Holbrook; two brothers: Justin Charles and Tyler Holbrook; and special aunt: Deborah Algard. Teddy was preceded in death by his father: Ted Charles. Willard Boyd Payne, Sr., 93 of Rising Sun, MD, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017 in the Calvert Manor Healthcare Center, Rising Sun, MD. Born in Akron, AL, on February 5, 1924, he was the son of the late Willard B. and Fannie (Elliott) Payne. He was the husband of the late Anna Alice (Evans) Payne. Mr. Payne served his country proudly during World War II in the US Navy. After the war, he worked as a truck mechanic, retiring from Boulden Trucking, Elkton, MD. He is survived by his children: Jo Ann Bernstein (Victor) of Newark, DE, Willard B. Payne, Jr. (Reacy) of Homosassa, FL, Flora Giacci (John) of Newark, DE, Bruce Payne (Late Wife, Diane) of Elkton, MD and David Payne (Tomey) of Peach Bottom, PA; his siblings: Leah Herbert (Mel) of Nashville, TN, Thomas Payne of Lanett, AL, Rayburn Payne (Carolyn) of Coker, AL and Richard Payne (Judy) of North Port, AL; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Jeffrey Alan Taylor, 73 of Charlestown, MD, passed away on October 15, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. Born in Wilmington, DE and growing up in Kennett Square, PA, Jeff was the son of the late Robert L. and Ethel (Meyerdierks) Taylor. Jeff attended Kennett High School where he held the state record in pole vaulting. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh and later served in the U.S. Army in the Special Forces, Green Beret Unit. Jeff retired from the DuPont Company in Wilmington, DE after 30 years of service. He enjoyed golfing in his earlier years. Boating and being on the water became his love in his later years. Claudia Jean Mullis of Rising Sun died October 14, 2017. She was 72.
