Joseph Franklin Painter, age 81, of Elkton, MD, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017. Born in Rising Sun, MD, on December 1, 1935, he was the son of the late James H. and Rene Green Painter.
Mr. Painter retired from Crouse Brothers Heating and Air Conditioning, Elkton, after 30 years of service. He enjoyed gardening and attending tractor pulls. Tex Warfield, 88 of North East, MD, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 in Union Hospital, Elkton, MD. Born in New York, NY, on September 22, 1928, he was the son of the late Russell and Dorothy (Williamson) Warfield. Prior to his retirement, Tex became the top liquor salesman in the State of MD, credited with establishing the 7 day liquor license in Cecil County. He was honored by the Kronheim Company for his 'loyalty, dedication and persistence in doing his job.' He was a gifted athlete, especially in golf, weight lifting, swimming and running. However, baseball was his passion. He was a 'fancy fielding, power hitting, base stealing Baltimorean who never reached the promise his natural ability suggested.' Early in his career, Frank Sinatra mistakenly nicknamed him the “Bat Boy," because of his youthful good looks. He spent many years playing in the minor leagues. |
