Walter Richard "Andy/ Pop" Anderson of North East died at home Friday, May 20, 2016. He was 86.
Born in Elk Neck on December 28, 1929, he was the grandson of the late Carl and Maggie Anderson. Mr. Anderson was an avid Chevrolet enthusiast having owned and operated Andy's Auto Sales. He retired from Chesapeake Care Resources in 2015. Norvell “Smudgie” Lee Mayo, 84 passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016 in Elkton.
She was born August 4, 1931, in Front Royal, VA, daughter of Wyndham Lee and Margaret Frances Downing Lee. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Preston “Pat” Mayo, a son Michael Mayo and niece Beverly Farrar Dudeck. Pansy Waddell, 86 of Elk Mills, MD, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016 in the Heartland Hospice House, Wilmington, DE. Born in Wilkes County, NC, on December 24, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John and Flossie (Casey) Holbrook. She was the wife of John Preston Waddell who preceded her in death on March 30, 1993. Pansy was a member of Baldwin UM Church, Elk Mills, MD and also attended North East Church of God, North East, MD. She was a great cook, with one of her specialties being the best vegetable soup. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, country music, and was an avid fan of Del Reeves. Most of all she loved her family, cooking for them and enjoying time spent with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Christopher Michael Holcomb, 43 yrs, of Port Deposit, MD, died Friday, May 13, 2016 at his residence. Born October 28, 1972 in Havre de Grace, MD, he was the son of Thomas E. Holcomb of Port Deposit, MD, and the late Shirley Anne Sexton Holcomb. Chris had been employed as a Security Guard in Wilmington, DE, for 22 years. He is survived by his son, Cody Holcomb of Port Deposit, MD; brothers, Tony A. Sexton, Michael A. Adams; sisters, Shirley L. Hall, Lisa F. Long and Pamela J. Smith. Lynda Snellings of Wilmington, Del., died Thursday, May 12, 2016 in the Hospital of the University of Penn Medical Center, Philadelphia, Pa. She was 67. Born in Leonardtown on February 28, 1949, she was the daughter of the late John and the late Helen (Owens) Morgan. She operated Tendercare Learning Center, North East. She enjoyed watching the birds, butterflies listening to music, kids and nature. She was a sweet, kind, gentle person who was the best mother and “Sasha” she could be to her grandchild, Emerson Luke and many, many others she treated as her own. Dianne Kelley of Port Deposit died at home Monday, May 9, 2016. She was 73.
Born August 1, 1942 in Havre de Grace, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Grace Russell Blansfield. Mrs. Kelley was retired from Constar Plastic, Havre de Grace. William Thomas Bines, Jr. of Perryville died Monday, May 9, 2016, in Franklin Square Hospital Center Seasons Hospice of Rosedale. He was 83.
Born April 2, 1933 in Perryville, he was the son of the late William Thomas, Sr. and Ethel D. Baker Bines. Mr. Bines was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Amtrak Railroad following 40 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and crabbing. Jeffrey D. Cullen of Lincoln University, Pa. died at home Thursday, May 5, 2016. He was 64. Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late David H. and Alice Ray Cullen. He attended the Oxford Area Schools and graduated from Sanford Prep School in Hockessin, Del., in 1969. Mr. Cullen was a member of the Class of 1973 at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine and graduated in 1975 with a degree in English Literature. He was a member of Delta Sigma Fraternity. He was an independent bread vendor for Pepperidge Farm for over 25 years. Mr. Cullen also managed an apple orchard, worked on an Alaskan oil tanker and as a lobster fisherman. He was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #13 and #155 in Oxford. Mr. Cullen was an avid historian and reader and loved Maine, farming, and the sea. Robert H. Fields of North East and Summerfield, Fla. died Friday, May 6, 2016 in Union Hospital, Elkton. He was 78. Bob was born February 7, 1938 in Tazewell, Va., son of Ethel Phoebe Church and Johnnie Fields. Mr. Fields served for six years in the United States Air Force. Before retiring, was employed at General Cable, Perelli Cable, Thiokol, Daily Express Trucking and was an independent trucker for over 25 years. He enjoyed playing cards and horse racing at Delaware Park, as well as spending time at his Florida residence. He was an avid sports fan who followed his beloved Orioles and Ravens faithfully. Mr. Fields enjoyed spending time with his family. Steven A. Jones, 95, of Nottingham, PA died on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Ware Presbyterian Home after a brief illness.
Born in Nottingham, PA he was a son of the late Lewis F. and Myrtle Grason Jones. Mr. Jones was a lifelong resident of Nottingham, PA and had worked in farming, was a master carpenter, and a rural mail carrier for several years. He loved nature and the outdoors, especially Nottingham Park. He had a keen memory for local history and has written of people and places surrounding his home. |
