Mary Jean Reeves, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 8, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Born in Sprague, WV, on October 7, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Clyde R. and Myrtle (Cook) Saunders. She is survived by her children: Jeanie Connor of North East, MD, Donna Cebula of Elkton, MD, Dee Cooper of Clearwater, FL, Mark Reeves of North East, MD, Robin DeSmith of Elkton, MD and Gilbert “Vernie” Reeves of North East, MD; three sisters: Martha, Betty and Helen; five brothers: David, Kenneth, Charles, Virgil and Harold; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Mollie Sue Kallman was born on June 17, 1937. Surrounded by her loving staff, Mollie went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 4, 2017.
She proudly worked for and retired from the Exelon Corporation. A beloved resident of Sunny Acres Senior Assisted Living Home, Mollie enjoyed the other residents and the activities of the home. She was especially fond of the staff members and cared deeply for those who dedicated their time to care for her. Mollie enjoyed writing detailed letters to her special friend Ann, traveling, bird watching, being outdoors, was an avid reader of any newspaper, especially the Baltimore Sun, and a loyal fan to the Baltimore Ravens. She had a special connection with the resident cat, going out of her way to make sure he was well cared for and pampered with love. Mollie enjoyed the simple things that life had to offer, a friendly word, a hot cup of tea, a good laugh, peanut butter on toast and spending time with those she enjoyed. Crawford, 69 of North East, MD, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 in the Heartland Hospice House, Wilmington, DE. Born in Stanton, VA, on February 13, 1948, he was the son of the late Earl H. and the late Nora Crawford. Mr. Crawford worked as a floor covering installer for his son at Pro Flooring, North East, MD. He enjoyed keeping busy and worked all the time. When he did slow down, he enjoyed cars and fishing. Daniel Philip Evans, 46 of North East, MD, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Union Hospital, Elkton, MD with his beloved family by his side.
He was born in Sellersville, PA, on July 8, 1970. Dan was the owner/operator of Dan Evans Construction LLC, North East, MD. During his 25 year career, thousands of roofs were installed in the area by Danny. He was known as “Superman” by all who knew him. God’s roof will never leak. He was a member of Camp Rodney Hunting Club and enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing. Most of all he loved his family and the time spent with them. Family came first above all else for him. He also loved his dogs who were faithful companions to him. Doris VanDyke, 92, of Rising Sun, MD passed away peacefully on March 3, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 15, 1924 in Lansing, NC, she was the daughter of the late William and Lona (Miller) Keys. Doris was a homemaker and loved being with her family. She greatly enjoyed gardening and working in her flower beds, especially with her Zinnia’s. John Christopher Abel, 44, of North East, MD, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 at Season’s Hospice in Christiana Hospital, DE. Chris was born in Havre de Grace, MD on December 13, 1972 and is the beloved son of Janice Eggers-Abel and John Abel IV. Chris loved life with exuberance and joy. He freely gave love to all around him. He enjoyed going to school in Perryville in his younger days – school plays, Boy Scouts and bus rides. After graduating, he then joined the Activity Center at Bayside Community Network where he had many friends and good times. Of special enjoyment were those activities arranged by Sally and others in the Lindsey House – going to Elvis impersonator events, musicals at Cecil College, picnics at North East Park, live music in Elkton and dinner at local restaurants. Betty R. (Yale) Newsome, 81 of Rising Sun, MD went peacefully to be with her Lord on March 2, 2017. She was born in Elkton, MD on April 24, 1935 to the late Walter Yale Sr. and Edith Yale. Ralph L. Howell, of Staten Island N.Y, passed away February 25, 2017. He was 79.
Born December 28, 1937 in Cecil County, he was the son of the late James Price Howell Sr. and Margaret Arlene Howell. Ralph grew up in Principio Furnace, MD. He moved to NY in 1955, where he lived and raised his family. Ralph enjoyed music, especially country, and loved to write songs. Pamela Suzanne Fest, 58 of Elkton, MD, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton, MD. Born in Mt. Holly, NJ, on October 31, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Robert Edward and Helen Mae (Saxton) Fest. Pam was a caring, giving, and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, life partner and friend. She enjoyed music, concerts, and spending time at the beach, especially at LBI, NJ.v She was loved by everyone who came in contact with her. “My sweetheart, my love, the one I looked to for support forever. On my mind and in my heart, I’ll hear your voice in the music.” Jean Ann Truitt, 80 of Rising Sun, MD, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017 at Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, Newark, DE.
Born in Havre de Grace, MD, on May 12, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Ernest E. and Dorothy C. (Cantler) Morris. Mrs. Truitt was a homemaker and had previously worked for C & J Clark Shoes, Kennett Square, Pa in the accounting office. She was a member of New London Baptist Church, Kelton, PA & St. John’s UM Church, Fair Hill, MD; and enjoyed flower gardening, crafts, bird watching and church activities. |
