Edith Ulrika Hostetter of North East died at home on Sunday, February 7, 2016. She was 93. She was born July 9, 1922, the daughter of the late Floyd H. and Elsie E. White. Mrs. Hostetter was the consummate homemaker and mother of six children. She was a graduate of Tome School, class of 1940, and Goldey School of Business. She worked as a secretary at Aberdeen Proving Ground during World War II. Mrs. Hostetter was active with the North East Women’s Civic League and was their longest active member since the early 60s. She greatly enjoyed hosting an annual fall theme party and luncheon for the Civic League. She was fortunate to have travelled to five continents along with her husband. Amy Jo Osborne of North East died Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Union Hospital, Elkton. He was 28.
A lifelong resident of Cecil County, she was born in Elkton, on August 9, 1987. Ms. Osborne worked as a caregiver. Samantha Shirley Jane Ball of Elkton died at home Sunday, February 7, 2016. She was 23. Born on May 6, 1992, she was a lifelong resident of Elkton. Ms. Ball worked as a dispatcher for AAA. She was a devoted mother, spending all her time with her son and family. She is survived by a son, Liam Shawn; her parents, Curtis and Paula (Reeder) Ball, of Elkton; four siblings, Curtis Ball, Jr. (Stephanie) of Clayton, Del.; Amy Ball, Kevin Ball and Kimberlee Ball all of Elkton; maternal grandparents, Arthur and Shirley Reeder of North East; paternal grandmother, Nancy Ball of North East; and two nephews, JJ and Curtie. James W. Brown, 70, of Peach Bottom, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 2, 2016.
Born in Rising Sun, MD, he was a son of the late Clyde and Oval (Eastridge) Broomell. James is survived by one brother and seven sisters. Brenda K. Roland of Elkton died Monday, February 1, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington, Del. She was 72. Born in Rugby, Va., she was the daughter of the late Dale Sexton and Margie Wave Mikel Sexton. Mrs. Roland enjoyed crafts and loved her children and grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey A. Roland of Elkton and Mikel D. Roland (Amanda) of Elkton; Kimberly A. Duncan of W.Va. and Teresa M. Anderson (Randy) of North East; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Walters (James) of Little Britain. Catherine L. Schottin, 85, of West Grove, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Jennersville Regional Hospital, West Grove. She was the wife of Robert A. Schottin with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. Born in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Gillogly and Gladys Blackmon McGowan. She was a member of Community of Love Lutheran Church, Oxford. Catherine enjoyed riding horses, the ocean and especially spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Martha Ann (Underwood) Reeves, 69, of Elkton, MD, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 31, 2016. Born in Bluefield, WV on December 22, 1946, Martha was the daughter of the late Harless Underwood and Geneva Robison Underwood. Martha’s hobbies included crossword puzzles, needlepoint, and cooking. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her loving children and grandchildren. |
