Anthony John Sniadowski Jr. of Elkton died at home Tuesday, June 25, 2013. He was 82. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware, son of the late Anthony John Sniadowski and the late Anna Leyko Sniadowski. Mr. Sniadowski attended St. Stanislaus School and Salesianum School. He attended St. Francis High School in Athol Springs, N.Y., where he excelled in academics and athletics, earning a football scholarship to the University of Miami. After graduating high school, he returned to Baltimore and worked at Domino Sugar where he met his future wife Bernadette Bratkowski. Mr. Sniadowski served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He attended the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in 1955 following his marriage. Mr. Sniadowski bought Lyons Pharmacy in Elkton where he served patrons for over 50 years and quietly assisted the less fortunate.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Elkton, and a 4th Degree Knight of the St. Francis Xavier Assembly and member of the Bishop Becker Council 2427. Mr. Sniadowski enjoyed spending time at Delaware Park and Maryland tracks and playing cards each Wednesday night. The Sniadowskis adopted four children, Marybeth, Krista, Shawn, and Kieran, and is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and a sister, Stella Sniadowski of Wilmington. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael, five sisters, and four brothers. A mass of Christian burial was held Friday, June 28 from Immaculate Conception Church with Rev. Joseph J. Piekarski officiating. Burial with military honors followed in the church cemetery in Cherry Hill.
