Allen Andrew "Peanut" Ferguson of Elkton died Thursday, June 12, 2014. He was 59. Born in Elkton on January 13, 1955, he was the son of Ruth Jones Ferguson, Chesapeake City, and the late Allen E. Ferguson. A graduate of Bohemia Manor High School, Mr. Ferguson retired from Carpenters Union Local #626, Wilmington, Del. He previously had worked for DiSabatino Maintenance, New Castle, Del. Mr. Ferguson was a member of Singerly Fire Company, Elkton, and a coach for Bohemia Manor Junior Football. He was a former coach and member of the Board of Directors for Elkton Little League and Elkton Junior Football.
Mr. Ferguson loved watching his grandchildren play sports and attending family events. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, crabbing and hanging out with his Lab, "Tucker." In addition to his mother, he is survived by wife of 36 years, Sharon Messer Ferguson; sons, Brandon Ferguson and wife, Melissa, Elkton, and Brian Ferguson and wife, Megan, Middletown, Del.; grandchildren, Tyler, Tayia, Finn, and expected in August, Allena Ferguson; siblings, Linda Yates and husband, Dave, Terry Ferguson and wife, Mary, all of Chesapeake City, and Paul Ferguson and wife, Debbie, Elkton; father- and mother-in-law, Bill and Mary Messer, Corbin, Kentucky; brother- and sister-in-law, David and Carol Cooper, Elkton; brother-in-law, Donnie Messer, Corbin; sister-in-law, Sharyn Ferguson, Cecilton; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Mr. Ferguson was preceded in death by his brother, Keith B. Ferguson. A funeral service was held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD 21921. Burial was in Elkton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in care of the funeral home. Comments are closed.
