Alden ‘Jake’ Kunsman of Elkton died at home Monday, January 6, 2014. He was 80. Born in Cecilton on February 11, 1933, he was the son of the late Alden Peter and the late Beulah (Snyder) Kunsman. Mr. Kunsman served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired meat cutter, having worked at Acme, his own store, Jake’s Market in North East, Shallcross, Value Food and Food Lion. Mr. Kunsman was a member of the North East Lions Club, VFW Post 6027, North East, and American Legion Susquehanna Post 135, Perryville.
He is survived by his companion, D. Arlene Barrow of Elkton; his former wife, Kay L. Kunsman of Perryville; two daughters, Karen Porter of Port Deposit, Kim Wade of Bivalve, and a son, Kip Kunsman of Perry Hall; extended family members, Cheryl Miller of Port Deposit, and Tina Barrow of Quarryville, Pa.; his brother, William Kunsman of Jefferson City, Tenn. and sister, Mary Louise Taylor of Elkton; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Korby Clement, and Arlene Barrow’s daughter, Dana Kirkley. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the North East Volunteer Fire Co., in care of the funeral home. Comments are closed.
