Philip Syron Bathon, Jr., age 56, of Lake Park, FL, formerly of Elkton, MD, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017. Philip was born in Elkton on June 22, 1960 to the late Philip Syron Bathon and Mary Jane Long Bathon. He graduated from Elkton High School in 1979. As a young man, he was a volunteer member of the Singerly Fire Company, attended the University of Maryland College Park, and was an officer with the Ocean City Police Department, where he also started an electrical contracting business. In 1995, he left Ocean City to work in Uzbekistan as a project manager for a large industrial project. Afterward, he continued to travel extensively before settling in Palm Beach, FL, where he started a marine contracting business. He continued travelling throughout the Caribbean and Central America for business and pleasure until his death. In addition to his parents, Philip was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Zdrojewski (Stanley) of Cecilton, MD.
He is survived by his sisters, Mary Frances McCown, Crystal River, FL, Jane Konowitz (William), Elkton, MD, Ann Rambo, Herndon, VA, Mary Virginia Bathon, Elkton, MD, Barbara Becker (Bruce), Ijamsville, MD, and Joan DiSabatino (Tony), Bear, DE; brother, John Thomas Gerard Bathon (Suzanne), Towson, MD; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their children. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Church, 454 Bow Street, Elkton, MD, where visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment in Immaculate Conception Cemetery will be private. Anyone who knew Philip knew he loved his pets.
