Howard F. Delp, Sr. “Chief”, age 82, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Calvert Manor Healthcare Center in Rising Sun, MD. He was born on October 31, 1933 in Piney Creek, NC, to the late D. Luther Delp and the late Virginia Blanche (Billings) Delp. Howard owned and operated Sun Electric Company with his business partner, Harvey Coale. He served on the Board of Electrical Examiners and was the 64th person to obtain an Electrical license in the state of Maryland. He was employed as head electrician of the Electrical Department at Aberdeen Proving Ground, where at the time of his retirement he was the highest ranking civilian on post. Howard was a longtime member of Janes United Methodist Church where he served on many councils. He was a proud member of the Masonic Harmony Lodge #53 in Port Deposit, MD for over 50 years. Howard was involved in many community organizations and activities, including: the Rising Sun Little League, International Order of Jobs Daughters – past associate Bethel Guardian, Bethel #55, Darlington, and the Order of Eastern Star - Darlington Chapter #105. He was a hardworking man but reserved his Sunday’s for his family and his faith. Madaline M. Holliday, 75 of North East, MD, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016 in the Calvert Manor Healthcare Center, Rising Sun, MD. Born in Renick, WV, on January 30, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Elmer B. and Lula (Campbell) Blankenship. She was the wife of the late Elwood Dean Holliday who died on March 9, 2001. Roger Lester Preisch, 71 of Elkton, MD, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016 at home. Born in Lockport, NY, on September 7, 1945, he was the son of the late Lester and Iris Preisch. He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Ann (Schmelzle) Preisch. They were married 46 years prior to her passing on June 1, 2012. Roger was a retired teamster, working for M & G Trucking for over 25 years. He loved everything outdoors, hunting, football and watching his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. He also enjoyed cooking and baking for his family. His beloved dog Travis was a constant companion by his side. Kimberly Ann Martin, 44 of North East, MD, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016 in Elkton, MD. Born in Wilmington, DE, on December 26, 1971, she was the daughter of Edward and Cheryl Marsh. She was a Homemaker, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Edith W. Moran Parsons, 92, of Oxford passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Oak Leaf Manor, Millersville, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than fifty years, Albert O. Moran, Sr. and by husband, Loy Parsons. Born in Sword Creek, VA she was the daughter of the late Reese and Osa Reedy Webb. Mrs. Parsons worked many years in her mushroom business and in her later years became a hairdresser. She was a faithful member of the Oxford Church of the Nazarene for many years. Mrs. Parsons loved cooking, baking, reading and entertaining friends and family. |
