After finishing second for three straight seasons, the Perryville girls lacrosse team's senior class won the Susquehanna Division for the first time.
The "comeback kids" did it again.
Liz Zatalava scored the go-ahead goal off a free position shot with 1:34 remaining in regulation as the Rising Sun girls lacrosse team topped host Elkton 12-11 Monday afternoon, April 25. Rising Sun's girls lacrosse team gained so much confidence from a strong second-half showing on Tuesday, they were able to repeat the feat two days later at North East.
The Tigers tallied the game's final four goals – the first three by Heather Amos – and upended the Indians 13-11 Thursday night. The Perryville girls lacrosse team remained undefeated with a 21-6 triumph over visiting North East Tuesday, April 19.
It was closer than the first meeting but the undefeated Perryville girls lacrosse team still won comfortably.
The Panthers (5-0) scored the last six goals of the game to pull away for an 18-8 triumph over visiting Rising Sun Thursday night. Lightning struck.
Then so did Erin DePaul. Again. And again. Elkton's midfielder scored three goals after a weather delay including the game-winner in overtime to lift the Elks to an 11-10 triumph over host Rising Sun Thursday afternoon. The Perryville girls lacrosse team topped host Elkton 12-7 Tuesday night, April 5.
Sydnie Bjork paced the Panthers with five goals and two assists. Taylor Poore provided three goals and two assists. Gillian Bumba tallied two goals. Bea Muscella recorded one goal and one assist and Ally Remesch added a goal. The Perryville girls lacrosse team downed host Rising Sun 20-4 in the season opener Tuesday night.
The Perryville girls lacrosse team is looking to take the next step and has a team capable of doing just that.
The Panthers finished 10-2 last year, but were the Susquehanna Division runner-up for the second straight season and lost to Queen Anne's in the region title game again. |
