Linton "Trash Man" Mercer tallied twice to lead the Rising Sun boys soccer team to a 4-1 triumph over host Perryville in the rain Thursday night. "Linton is up top because of his speed," Rising Sun coach Ken Ulrich said. "And he is what we call the 'Trash Man'. He cleans up anything up top with his speed and that's what he does. He knows his job and he does it well." The North East field hockey team topped Tome 2-1 at Calvert Regional Park Thursday, September 27.
Fallston scored three goals in the last 16 minutes of the first half to down the Rising Sun field hockey team 3-1 at Calvert Regional Park Wednesday, September 26.
Serving in volleyball is all about risk and reward.
If you take the chance to serve tough, it can generate some easy points but can also backfire if you serve long or into the net. Undefeated Rising Sun nearly put itself in a hole with service errors at critical times during the middle stages of the Tuesday, September 25, match with visiting Bel Air, but rebounded for a 25-18, 27-25, 13-25, 25-20 triumph. The district golf tournament began Tuesday at Mountain Branch Golf Club in Joppa.

Dustin Flowers provided two big plays in the frenetic final four minutes to spark Rising Sun to a 34-27 triumph over visiting Bohemia Manor in a penalty-plagued contest Friday night. The Rising Sun boys soccer team evened its record by defeating West Nottingham Academy 5-1 last Thursday afternoon.
