It was closer than the first meeting but the undefeated Perryville girls lacrosse team still won comfortably. The Panthers (5-0) scored the last six goals of the game to pull away for an 18-8 triumph over visiting Rising Sun Thursday night. "We finally got our first home game at home," Perryville coach Mary Dunman said. "And we were in all white and pretty. We played a great game and had our fanbase. We hadn't had too many fans at [the road] games. We started off strong. They came back on me. And then we settled down and came back." Junior attacker Sydnie Bjork had a huge night for Perryville, scoring six goals and dishing out six assists. Bea Muscella collected five goals and an assist. Taylor Poore provided three goals and two assists. Veronica DiFuccia tallied twice. Ally Remesch recorded a goal and two assists and Abbie Jones chipped in a goal. For Rising Sun, Liz Zatalava posted four goals and an assist. Logan Alexander and Heather Amos each added a goal and an assist. Kaitlyn Shivery and Emily Fanning each contributed a goal. Perryville routed Rising Sun 20-4 in the first meeting on March 22. "We anticipated them coming out and [bringing] the pressure game team they are," said Dunman. "We came down quick and then they pressured my defense excellently. I love games like this because it was a nice game of lacrosse." Bjork scored four first half goals and Muscella had the other three as Perryville led 8-5 at halftime. An Alexander goal trimmed the Tigers' deficit down to 12-8 before Perryville reeled off the final six scores. "They're just working very hard with everything, [from] skills to conditioning, and working to be a team and working on their goal of going into the playoffs and working their way through the playoffs. Because they hit regionals and when you do that, you get a taste of that, now they want it," Dunman said. "It's like everything.they want to do better than they did the year before and that's what they're doing." Photos from the JV game Rising Sun defeated Perryville 4-2 in the JV game.
