Rising Sun finished third out of four teams in a season-opening golf match held at Chesapeake Bay Golf Club of Rising Sun last Thursday afternoon.
Bel Air (209) finished first followed by Mount Calvary Christian (Elizabethtown, Pa.) (221), the Tigers (228), and Aberdeen (230).
Zach Van Dyke led Rising Sun with a 41 followed by Trenten Johnson and Derek Adams (45), Sean O'Donnell (47), Ryan Bauer (50), and Sarah Yashinskie (52).
It was an offer too good for Rising Sun boys basketball coach Matt Haack to pass up.
Haack resigned his coaching post and teaching job at North East High to accept a job in his home state of Michigan.
Haack has accepted a science teaching position near Grand Rapids, not too far from where he was raised. He had always considered the possibility of going back home.
The Perryville Senior Division softball All-Stars went 2-2 in pool play at the East Region Tournament in Worcester, Mass., and did not qualify for the championship round.
