Emma Cease of Rising Sun and Elkton's Cameron Spaeth won the the individual races and the Tiger girls and Perryville boys took the team titles at the Susquehanna Division cross country meet Tuesday, October 2, at Perryville Community Park.
Led by a 41 from medalist Will Smethurst, Bohemia Manor captured the Susquehanna Division golf tournament Tuesday, October 2, at Chesapeake Bay Golf Club Rising Sun.
Emma Cease captured the girls race to lead the Rising Sun cross country team to a win over Elkton while the Elks' Cameron Spaeth won the boys event to propel his team to a triumph at Fair Hill Tuesday, September 18.
The Perryville girls soccer team (1-2) picked up its first win of the season by edging Elkton 2-1 Monday, September 10.
The Elkton football team overcame three early fumbles and a plethora of penalties to pull away for a 28-10 triumph over visiting North East Friday night.
The Elks (2-0) fumbled on their first three possessions and fell behind 3-0 on a 27-yard field goal by the Indians' Drake Bare with 5:08 left in the first quarter. Elkton responded right away. Nolan Null connected with Tashawn Watters for a 49-yard scoring strike to put the hosts ahead 7-3 just 55 seconds after the North East field goal. Sometimes it's not how you start, it's how you finish.
Alex Longeway of Bohemia Manor finished first again. The Eagles' junior overcame a sluggish first 200 meters to capture the 1600 meter state title Saturday at Morgan State – his second championship of the meet. The North East baseball team advanced to the region title game with another come-from-behind victory over a county rival.
The Indians regained the lead with two runs in the top of the sixth and added three insurance runs in the seventh on the way to a 10-7 triumph over Elkton Tuesday, May 15. North East swept the Susquehanna Division track and field meet held Tuesday, April 24.
The host Indians captured both the boys and girls team competitions. The Perryville girls lacrosse team opened season season with a pair of 14-2 victories over county foes.
Elkton's Courtney Hardy scored her team's first 10 points as the Elks stormed out to a 17-4 cushion en route to a 46-40 triumph over visiting Fallston in a region semifinal game Thursday night.
Hardy had 10 of her game-high 20 points in the opening eight minutes. |
