North East swept the Susquehanna Division track and field meet held Tuesday, April 24. The host Indians captured both the boys and girls team competitions. In the boys standings, North East (161) defeated Elkton (145.5), Havre de Grace (104), Fallston (89), Rising Sun (76.5), Patterson Mill (72), and Joppatowne (36).
Kobie Matthews and Connor Yedinak led the Indians with wins in two individual events. Matthews triumphed in the 100 meter dash and long jump. Yedinak prevailed in the shot put and discus. Jordan McCollum captured the 400 meter dash and teamed with Danny Leek, Jack VanHorn, and Daniel Miller to take the 4 x 800 relay. Elkton recorded seven first place finishes. Brandon Knight earned win in both hurdles events. Peter Olakunle triumphed in the 200 meter dash and was part of two victorious relay teams. Olakunle, John Rhodan, Michael Vass, and Tashawn Watters teamed to win the 4 x 200 relay The same foursome combined to capture the 4 x 100 relay. Mark Kolb, Knight, Rhodan, and Easton Shelley prevailed in the 4 x 400 relay. In the girls competition, the Indians (151.5) topped Patterson Mill (135), Elkton (123.5), Rising Sun (76), Fallston (74), Joppatowne (66), and Havre de Grace (51). North East's Mikhaila Clark swept the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Yailynn Ramirez won the 3200 meter run and Niya Khanjar prevailed in the pole vault. Elkton's Kyla Wilson won both the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash. Teammate Asia Travers won the shot put and discus. Rising Sun's Annalia Webb earned a win in the high jump. Comments are closed.
