That Shorti hoagie is still coming.
Officials in the Town of Elkton's Planning Department confirmed last week that the plans to build a Wawa in Elkton are still underway.
"They are moving forward," confirmed a planning department staffer.
The new Wawa will be a 4,670 square foot building at the current site where the Knights of Columbus building now stands. It will have six fuel pumps. Diesel fuel will not be sold.
A few issues have cropped up in the plans. One was concerning where delivery trucks would make their drop offs. That has since been resolved. There will be entrances and exits to the store off Route 40 and Landing Lane. No delivery trucks will be permitted to use the Landing Lane entrance.
The project is on tap to begin this spring. Wawa officials are expected to attend a planning meeting in Elkton in March.
