Seven months into the Healing Heroes program and Armstrong has already met their goal.
So they plan to expand their commitment to veterans.
In partnership with Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, Armstrong is providing a trained rescue service dog to a local veteran with disabilities. They are assisting those who have served and subsequently suffer from PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury, seizures and other conditions resulting from their service. Each dog costs about $22,000 before it can be provided to a veteran in need. The original commitment by Armstrong was five dogs. The new goal was six. Now it's become an ongoing effort.
