Costly mistake for schools
It cost the school system twice as much to send out bus stop reminder cards this year.
That's because the task was done twice.
The first round of bus stop reminder cards for elementary students was mailed out providing parents with the time students would arrive home in the afternoon. The goal of these cards is to let students and parents know what time the bus will arrive at their stop in the morning.
Cecil County Public Schools spokesperson Kelly Keeton said that the problem was due to a "technical glitch".
"New postcards with correct information were reprinted and mailed as soon as the error was discovered. The cost of doing so was approximately $1,200," Keeton said in an email.
