There's been discussion about it since Union Hospital officials announced plans in the wake of the closure of Harford Memorial.
Last week, Elkton town officials got a look at the concept plan for the Behavioral Health Crisis Intervention Center at Union Hospital. The center isn't actually at Union, instead it will be constructed nearby behind Napa auto parts along Warburton Street, which is currently a private road.
The new facility will be a two story building. The first floor will have 16 beds and measure 14,273 square feet. The second floor will be the Ashley Addiction outpatient treatment center.
Ashley Addiction already has a presence at Union Hospital and opened a program there on December 12. A formal opening ceremony is set for next week.
That isn't the only plan for Elkton's downtown.
Elkton's Director of Building and Zoning Chip Bromwell also stated that the town has been fielding questions about development. There are plans for a new barber shop in Elkton.
There are also preliminary plans for a non chain mom and pop type restaurant. Site work continues for the renovation at Gilpin Manor Elementary School. There are remodeling projects planned at Terumo medical and at the Planet Fitness in Big Elk Mall.
