Planned store sparks more growth
Elkton's planned new grocery store has been a catalyst for other development.
The Lidl store to be built in the area of the old Rose's Diner, at 622 East Pulaski Highway, has sparked other projects. The Lidl, a German grocery chain, will bring a 36,170 square foot grocery store to the area. Construction is expected to get underway soon.
But according to Elkton Director of Building and Zoning Charles Bromwell, other businesses are being planned for that area.
Shoppes at Elkton will also be built near the Lidl. The strip mall will contain a dental clinic, furniture or mattress store, and a fast food restaurant national chain Panda Express.
In other business from Elkton's Building and Zoning:
• Those who work at or visit Cecil County's Administration Building may notice construction vehicles in the area. Those vehicles are working to complete Pintail Circle Road and finish stormwater management work in that area. Bromwell said that there is a prospect for a new building near the county building but nothing is firm as yet.
