PHS Band at band shell opening
Jewelie Dowell is excited.
Dowell will be among the first people ever to perform in Perryville's new amphitheater. "I'm excited getting to play there for the first time. It's a cool venue," said Dowell. It seems fitting that the first performers at the new Perryville Amphitheater are local favorites - the Perryville High School band.
"It will be fun to be part of a big thing like this in Perryville. Nothing really happens here," said band member Kerrey O'Neill.
Megan Murphy is a first year band member. "I'm excited but this is my first year to play with so many people," said Murphy. Band member Craig Seibert is inviting his family and close friends to come watch.
The band will also be joined by the Perryville Middle School chorus, which will also perform inside the approximately 40 foot long and 20 feet deep, wood-framed shell.
The concert is part of the Town of Perryville's annual free Christmas Party set for Saturday, December 10 from 4-6 p.m. in Lower Ferry Park, Roundhouse Drive.
The ribbon cutting for the band shell will be held at 4:15 p.m. There will also be crafts, hot chocolate, and snacks. Those who attend the party will also have the chance to take a hay ride to Rodgers Tavern.
Santa will be inside the tavern from 4:30-5:30 p.m. At 6 p.m., the town tree lighting will be held.
