Perryville gearing up for party
You can help Perryville make history.
Eileen Rice has now been hired as the part time director of the Museum at Rodgers Tavern.
Rice is now recruiting volunteers to help catalog artifacts, prepare the museum to open and more. School students in need of history related projects are welcome. Anyone interested in getting involved may email Rice at RTMuseum@perryvillemd.org.
The goal is to have an open house at the museum before Christmas and then have the museum open regular hours by next spring.
In other business from the Town of Perryville:
• Work is continuing at building eight apartments in the Broad Street building which formerly housed a bank and High Roads School. The building is being converted from commercial to residential.
• The Town of Perryville is seeking businesses who want to be part of a Trunk or Treat at the annual Halloween party which will be held October 14 at Rodgers Tavern. The party will be held from 5-7 p.m. and will feature pumpkin decorating, a hay maze, games, a DJ, free food, and a costume contest. The party is for those ages 12 and under. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Costume contest judges are also needed. Judging will be by age group: 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Trophies will be awarded to the winners.
Amy Yackanech, a town staffer said that more people are needed to get involved. Perryville is moving towards turning the party into a Fall Festival.
To volunteer to help with the party call Perryville town hall at 410-642-6066.
