On Thursday, October 24, investigators from the Cecil Sheriff's Office arrested Jonathan Blair Copeland, 24, of the 100 block of Old Elm Road, North East. He was charged with first degree murder in the death of Jeffrey Adam Myers, 33. on Wednesday, October 23.
On Friday, John Wallace Green, III, 28, of the unit block of Maple Hill Court, Port Deposit, was also charged with first degree murder in the death of Myers.
The investigation revealed that on Monday, October 21, Copeland had an argument in the presence of others, where Copeland allegedly threatened to kill Myers. Copeland accused Myers of stealing a large amount of money and/or drugs from his residence. At approximately 4:50 p.m. on October 23, deputies responded to the 1500 block of Principio Road, Port Deposit, where they found Myers in a Ford truck at the end of his driveway. Myers had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead.
Multiple witnesses saw a black Ford Mustang fleeing from the scene. One witness who was driving by the residence saw the unnamed suspect shooting into the truck. Investigators learned that Copeland frequently drove a black Ford Mustang which was registered to an acquaintance.
The investigators learned that the suspects fled the scene and drove to Newark, Delaware where they experienced vehicle problems. The suspects contacted an acquaintance who towed the Mustang and drove them back to Cecil County. Copeland was located in the parking lot of M&T Bank, Tome Highway, near Rising Sun, late Wednesday evening. Copeland was charged with first degree murder on October 24.
