Nelson named to Hall

Perryville's Economic Development Coordinator may find a way to use his big honor to the town's advantage.
Retired professional indoor soccer player Billy Nelson, who started working in the town last summer, will be inducted into the Maryland Soccer Hall of Fame in May.
Nelson, who retired in 2011 after playing 10 seasons for the Baltimore Blast, explained that he has been a contender for the Hall of Fame the last few years and was selected for induction this year.
Nelson played all 10 seasons of his professional career with the Blast. He graduated from Bel Air High and UMBC.
"I feel it's a great honor. I knew I was in the running and was ecstatic when I was selected," said Nelson. He said the town may try to take advantage of the honor, perhaps inviting other Blast players to Perryville for an event.
As Economic Development Coordinator, Nelson is working to bring businesses to Perryville.
