A 29-year old male was shot in Elkton early this morning.
Elkton police Captain Joseph Zurolo said at 3:08 a.m., officers with the Elkton Police Department were dispatched to the area of West Main Street and Maffitt Street for a shots fired complaint. Prior to arrival, officers’ received information that several shots were heard coming from this area.
Officers discovered blood droppings in the 100 block of Maffitt Street, Zurolo reported. Officers immediately began to canvass and search the area for a potential victim and suspect. A short time later, a 29 year old male victim was located lying in the grass next to a parking lot in the 200 block of West Main Street.
The victim was conscious and alert and appeared to have been shot in the lower abdomen. Officers began to administer first aide until EMS could arrive on scene. Police report the victim could not provide many details as to what had occurred. Paramedics arrived on scene and took over treatment. The victim was subsequently transported to Christiana Hospital.
