Within the next weeks, Mitzi Fields may feel like she's a teenager again.
Fields, Branch Manager at the Rising Sun Library, and other staffers are getting ready to roll out a host of activities all with a 1960s theme.
"I was in high school in the 60s. We are excited. We're going to cover all aspects of the 1960s," said Fields.
The next few months will feature numerous programs all focussed on the 1960s. There will be movies, book discussions, dance parties, and history lessons.
One of the highlights at Rising Sun will happen on September 17. Journalist Nancy Lynch and Vietnam Veteran Rick Lovekin will share correspondence from the Vietnam War era on at 7 p.m. at the branch.
"I can't remember doing anything about Vietnam before," said Fields. She explained that the program will feature Lynch, a newspaper columnist who compiled letters from those serving in Vietnam. Lovekin will share from his perspective.
