If you have a passion for fashion or just want to support your local library an April 12 event will allow you to do so.
The Friends of Cecil County Public Library will host their second annual Spring Fashion Show. The event will be held at Elkton Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall at 1:30 p.m.
This is one of the major fundraising events that the Friends organize throughout the year to benefit the library's Summer Reading Program. The proceeds also help fund other small projects in the library that are not covered by their standard budget. These projects would not be possible without the support of the friends.
The first ever fashion show held last year was a new venture for the Friends. It was such a success that many guests asked that it become annual. This year, it will be held the Saturday before Easter and will be geared to showcasing attractive spring fashions.
Boscov's provides the clothing. Library staff, members of the Friends of the Library and their family members and friends serve as models. The models include all ages - from young girls to retirees. The goal is to show off lovely clothes which can be worn by all ages.
In addition to the fashion extravaganza, there will be quizzes, and raffles. Raffle first prize is a spa treatment at a local spa. There will also be tickets to the Winterthur "Costumes of Downton Abbey" and admission to Plumpton Park Zoo. There will be other prizes including additional spa treatments. There will be local artist jewelry and craft exhibits. Light refreshments will be served. Tickets for this event are $12 each and are available at all library branches and online at www.cecil.ebranch.info/about-us/supportus/friends-of-the-library.
Tickets will also be available at the door. Raffle tickets will also be available prior to the event. Cost is $1 per ticket, or six tickets for $5. The drawing will be held during the fashion show. Winners need not be present to win.
