After a few last minute peeks at their notes, Alex Geracimos and her teammate, Jennifer Morton were ready.
The pair, students at Bo Manor High School, were among the about 75 students who were competing in various categories during the recent Future Business Leaders of America conference held at North East High School.
"I want to go in the business field and I hope this will give me some business insight," said Morton.
The pair ended up winning their category, Emerging Business Issues.
Hosting the event, proved to be a challenge for North East High FBLA member Jessica Lukeman. Lukeman, who is vice president of FBLA Region 3, had to cope with running an event that had to be rescheduled due to bad weather. "I'm kind of nervous. It's a lot of work. We've been preparing for this for seven months," said Lukeman.
The event brought together students from schools in Harford County and throughout the Eastern Shore. Local schools also had a presence - the hosts, Elkton High, Bo Manor High, and Cecil School of Technology students all competed.
In addition to the competition, students also attended workshops regarding dealing with adversity, dressing for success, leadership, and money matters.
