The Town of North East is taking new bicycle racks for a test ride.
The neon yellow, bicycle shaped rack is hard to miss.
Town administrator Melissa Cook-MacKenzie brought the concept of the bicycle shaped bike rack to the town. She had seen them in another city and decided to bring the unique idea to North East.
"We're trying it out," said North East public works supervisor Phil Meekins. "We have different bike racks all over town and we will see how this will be received."
The town currently has 20-25 racks of various types scattered throughout the town. The new one was placed in front of town hall because there wasn't one there.
Meekins said he guarantees that at least one person will use the new bike rack.
Commissioner Mike Kline rides his bicycle to town meetings.
