Rain in May means that there will be two downtown Elkton car shows in June.
The May 25 car show was cancelled due to inclement weather. Classic car owners are reluctant to bring their prized vehicles out in bad weather so the May show was rescheduled and moved to this week.
On Thursday, June 8 from 5-8 p.m., the show will begin. There will be trophies, 50/50 raffles, door prizes, dash plaques, food vendors and live entertainment. Registration is free for vehicles owners. All years, makes, and models are welcome. This week, Elkton town commissioner Earl Piner will team up with Commissioner Jean Broomell's husband, John to provide live music. The duo are known as E&J when performing.
On June 22, the car show will be back, also from 5-8 p.m. There will be the same premiums offered to those who show their vehicles. The Big Bopper also known as Gary Baker, will provide the music.
That's just the beginning of the summer fun in Elkton. There will also be car shows on July 27 and August 24.
Music on Main is set to begin Thursday, July 13. Music on Main is free entertainment on Thursday evenings from July through September 14. From 5:30-7:30 p.m., there will be various performers. Any band who may be interested is urged to become part of the young talent pool for Music on Main. Call (410) 398-5076 for information on how to submit your audition demo.
Another new event is coming to downtown Elkton in July.
On Thursday, July 13 from 4-7:30 p.m., Elkton is going to the dogs. The first ever Dog's Day of Summer, a pet friendly event, will be held. There will be live music and a celebration of all things canine.
Some of the activities planned include downtown business participating. Spork will be selling gourmet dog treats. Suz's Quilts will have a free dog scarf giveaway, The Palette & The Page will feature dog-themed discounted books. House of Hope will provide adoption information on pets. Dogs must be on a leash. No retractable leashes allowed.
