After being rained out a year ago, those from Elkton Parks and Recreation are hoping people are ready to celebrate National Kids to Parks Day in a big way.
Elkton Parks and Rec. staffers will host Playtime in the Park to mark national parks day on Saturday, May 16 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The event will be held at Meadow Park West in the rear pavilion.
There will be face painting, a bounce house, games, food vendors, door prizes which have been donated by area businesses, and more. This event is geared for families.
Mary Magaw, from Elkton Parks and Rec., said that Elkton is celebrating national parks day for the third time. Last year, park flooding cancelled the activities. Staff will spotlight various summer camp programs including basketball, dance, and sports leagues. Kona Ice and Chick-Fil-A will provide food. There will be pets in attendance with A Buddy for Life.
"There will be lots of fun for everyone," said Magaw. Typically, about 400 people turn out to celebrate parks.
