Rebuilding Elkton's Farmer's Market is an ongoing process.
This year a group of chef growers have signed on to sell fresh produce. Full Circle Farm from the Baltimore area has signed on as a vendor this year. Jade Farm is providing eggs and pasteurized chickens. Filaskey Produce has also signed on.
The market opened quietly, in April, and more vendors are signing on to turn out at the site, Bow and Howard streets in downtown Elkton. The market is open from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
According to Michelle Henson, Administration Office Secretary for the Town of Elkton, the vendors realize the market, which was revamped last year, is ever evolving. "All the vendors appreciate that it's a fledgling market. Slow and steady wins the race," said Henson.
Henson is looking for additional vendors. She is also accepting those who would perhaps like to sell homegrown/handmade items on another day of the week. For more information call 410-398-0970 ext. 142 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
